What it actually is
Fluorite is CaF₂ before it is a story. The lattice is cubic, Mohs 4, and the eye meets many-coloured.
The better pieces still come out of the ground in China, Mexico, England. Agricola wrote of fluorspar in the sixteenth century, long before anyone spoke of fluorescence.
What the old tradition whispers
The parlour tradition ties Fluorite to air and to the third eye centre. The old site stood it near: Pisces, Capricorn, Aquarius.
How not to turn it to ash
Softer than a steel knife. No ultrasonic bath, no acid, no sudden heat. Dust wants a dry cloth.
