What it actually is

Opalite is SiO₂ before it is a story. The lattice is amorphous, Mohs 5–6, and the eye meets white, blue.

The better pieces still come out of the ground in Czechia, China. Usually furnace glass with a milky sheen, about 5 to 6 on Mohs, and often labelled moonstone by mistake.

What the old tradition whispers

The parlour tradition ties Opalite to water and to the crown centre. The old site stood it near: Cancer, Pisces.

How not to turn it to ash

Softer than a steel knife. No ultrasonic bath, no acid, no sudden heat. Dust wants a dry cloth.
