What it actually is
Kyanite is Al₂SiO₅ before it is a story. The lattice is triclinic, Mohs 4.5–7, and the eye meets blue.
The better pieces still come out of the ground in Brazil, Nepal, Kenya. Along the blade a knife bites; across it the same crystal stands near quartz.
What the old tradition whispers
The parlour tradition ties Kyanite to air and to the throat centre. The old site stood it near: Aries, Taurus, Libra, Pisces.
How not to turn it to ash
Softer than a steel knife. No ultrasonic bath, no acid, no sudden heat. Dust wants a dry cloth.
