How to keep a stone

The old site wrote about “charging” and “cleansing” as if a stone were a battery. A mineral is not a battery. Chemistry, heat and a harder neighbour are what spoil it.

Quartz will take lukewarm water. A long sun fades amethyst, rose quartz and some citrine. A diamond scratches almost everything, including another diamond in the same box.

Amber, pearl, coral and jet fear perfume, alcohol and a sunny sill. Water dissolves selenite. Turquoise, opal and howlite drink soap through their pores. Silver darkens in air — chemistry, not a curse. Each stone’s page carries its own line.
